The LSU Baseball team is off to a strong start in the 2026 season. The Tigers swept Milwaukee over the weekend and defeated Kent State on Monday night to start the new campaign 4-0.

The bats have been alive, as LSU has scored a whopping 51 runs through just four games this season. Plenty of contributors are off to strong starts, but nobody is as dialed in at the plate as junior outfielder Jake Brown.
Jake Brown off to blazing hot start in 2026
Through four games, Brown leads the Tigers in hits (9), home runs (4), RBI (10), total bases (23), and is second in OPS (1.932). He has at least one hit and one RBI in every game so far this season, and his four home runs have him already halfway to his total of eight from last season.
Brown has been impressive in every game, but his best performance so far came on Sunday in LSU's 21-7 win over Milwaukee. The Sulphur native went 3-for-4 with two home runs, six RBIs, three runs scored and a walk. He followed that performance up with another two-homer game on Monday against Kent State, giving him four home runs in his last two games. In that span, he homered in three consecutive at-bats from Sunday to Monday.

After a strong freshman season in which he hit .264 over 56 games and 21 starts, Brown enjoyed a breakout season as a sophomore in 2025. In 64 games, he hit .320 with a .935 OPS and eight home runs and 45 runs scored. He played a pivotal role in leading LSU to its eighth National Championship at the College World Series, and his power surge to start the 2026 season is taking the college baseball world by storm.
Brown is a name to watch for the 2026 MLB Draft, as he is ranked as the No. 54 overall prospect in the country by MLB Pipeline.
Brown and the Tigers are back in action on Wednesday, February 18 with a home matchup against Nicholls at Alex Box Stadium. First pitch is slated for 1:00 p.m. CT.
