The LSU Baseball team suffered its first loss of the season earlier this week on Tuesday night. The Tigers fell to McNeese by a score of 7-6 to fall to 8-1 on the season.

To make matters worse, starting catcher Cade Arrambide went down with a foot injury in the 4th innings. The injury occurred when he took a foul ball off his foot behind the plate, and he was unable to return to the field.
As LSU prepares to play four games in four days starting on Friday, not having Arrambide available behind the plate would be a tough loss. However, Jay Johnson's latest comments signal that Arrambide is nearing a return to action.
Cade Arrambide ready to roll for upcoming weekend home stand
According to Johnson, Arrambide is expected to suit up this weekend when the Tigers take on Dartmouth and Northeastern at Alex Box Stadium. "Yeah, he's fine, I fully expect him to play this weekend," Johnson said when speaking with the media on Thursday afternoon.

Johnson's comments have Tiger fans breathing a sigh of relief. Arrambide has been a key piece of LSU's strong start to the season, and not having him available over the weekend would not have been ideal. It remains to be seen if he will be in the lineup on Friday against Dartmouth or later in the weekend, but it's a good sign that Arrambide's injury doesn't appear to be severe by any means.
Through nine games this season, Arrambide's .355 batting average is good for fourth on the team. He also boasts a 1.216 OPS to go along with three home runs, nine RBIs, and a .742 slugging percentage.
Freshman Omar Serna Jr. replaced Arrambide behind the plate in the 4th inning. Playing in his eighth game of his collegiate career, Serna went 1-for-4 with a single and two strikeouts after replacing Arrambide.
LSU will alternate playing Dartmouth and Northeastern in Baton Rouge over the next four days. The action gets started on Friday night against Dartmouth with a first pitch time of 6:30 p.m. CT.
