It has not been a great weekend for the LSU Tigers or those associated with the program starting with the loss on Saturday night against Ole Miss. After a rough game for the Tigers, LSU fans likely turned to the NFL games on Sunday to watch some of the greats who have come through the program at the pro level.
Week 1 of the NFL season allowed Jayden Daniels to return to action after he missed ten games in his Sophomore campaign. After dealing with a gruesome elbow injury last season, protecting the young quarterback was the top priority for the team, and on Sunday they failed him again.
Jayden Daniels exits Week 2 game with another gruesome elbow injury
With less than a minute remaining in the 1st half of the Commanders Week 2 matchup with the Cowboys, Jayden Daniels was driving the team down the field to try and tie the game. The Commanders were out of timeouts, and after playing to ensure the team could still kick a field goal, Dan Quinn made the gutsy decision to try and score a touchdown before time expired.
The play quite literally couldn't have gone worse for Washington as the Left Guard stepped directly on Jayden Daniels' foot, and as he tried to keep himself from going down, his left elbow appeared to bend backwards.
The replay of the injury was so gruesome that Tom Brady slipped up and swore on live TV as it looked like Daniels suffered another serious elbow injury. As the teams went to the locker room, the staff brought out the medical cart to bring Jayden Daniels to the locker room which is never a good sign.
After all Jayden Daniels went through last season, to see him suffer another setback after working his way back is heartbreaking to see, especially with another elbow injury. At some point, the coaching staff has to do more to protect him, and the Commanders playing for the field goal just to change that plan on the final play of the half may have cost them their starting quarterback.
Jayden Daniels was electric in the first half, passing for 96 yards and a touchdown while leading the team with 69 yards on the ground. According to the broadcast, Jayden Daniels has been ruled out for the remainder of the game.
