Unfortunately, former LSU QB Jayden Daniels' sophomore NFL season has been plagued by injury so far. Daniels missed Washington's Week 3 and 4 games with a knee sprain, and went down with another injury on Sunday against the Cowboys. Here's the latest on his status.

Jayden Daniels injury update

With the Commanders trailing 27-15 in the 3rd quarter, Daniels dropped back to pass, and after pump faking, was hit by Dallas linebacker Shemar James. Daniels lost the ball and the Cowboys were able to recover. Daniels remained on the ground for several seconds after the play, grasping at his right knee/hamstring area.

The Commanders posted to X (formerly Twitter) that Daniels was being treated for a hamstring injury. It's worth mentioning that Daniels was grasping at the same knee in which he was wearing a knee brace, but it remains unclear at this time if the injuries are definitively related.

Daniels made his way to the blue medical tent on the sidelines to receive medical attention. FOX Sports' sideline reporter Erin Andrews reported that Daniels was in the tent "for a while." When he emerged from the tent, Daniels looked to his mom sitting in the stand behind the Washington bench and gave her a thumbs up. Andrews stated that Daniels was questionable to return.

Marcus Mariota replaced Daniels at quarterback. Daniels completed 12 of his 22 pass attempts for 156 yards and a touchdown to go along with 35 yards and a touchdown on the ground before his injury. The Commanders are already down their top receiver in Terry McLaurin, and it goes without saying that losing Daniels for an extended period of time would be a significant blow. Last season, the former Heisman Trophy winning QB was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2024, earned a Pro Bowl visit, and even received some MVP votes.
