One of the most coveted wide receivers in the 2027 recruiting class continues to draw interest from several big-name programs despite his commitment to a rising SEC program.

LSU faces a tough 2026 schedule, but how does it rank nationally?

Three-star wideout Jeremiah Douglas committed to Vanderbilt back on December 2, but that hasn't stopped several teams from continuing to pursue him. More specifically, a total of five schools remain in the hunt to flip Douglas away from the Commodores: LSU, Texas, Ole Miss, SMU, and Kansas State.

New LSU wide receivers coach George McDonald has maintained steady contact with Douglas since his commitment to Vanderbilt back in early December. It's clear that LSU has Douglas' attention, as the highly-touted prospect stated that LSU is "making me feel like a top priority, and that has definitely caught my attention, and so does the love they show."

Along with Vanderbilt, LSU's biggest competition for Douglas' services appear to be the Texas Longhorns. Douglas hails from Crandall, TX, so playing in his home state certainly seems to be appealing to him. Steve Sarkisian and his staff have rolled out the red carpet on several occasions for Douglas, and he was most recently in Austin last summer in early June.

In November, Sarkisian made a big splash by landing a commitment from Easton Royal, the No. 3 wide receiver and No. 12 overall player in the country for the 2027 class according to 247Sports. Royal is also a Louisiana native, which stings Tiger fans.

Kiffin has yet to land a commitment from a wide receiver for 2027, and getting a flip from Douglas would be a great start. Douglas is ranked as the No. 70 wide receiver and No. 539 overall prospect in the country according to 247Sports. LSU's 2027 class features just two commits at this time: 4-star EDGE Jaiden Bryant and 4-star QB Peyton Houston. He remains committed to Vanderbilt, but don't be surprised if Kiffin works his magic and earns a flip from Douglas in the coming months.
