On Thursday night, Judge Robert Whitwell made the decision to grant Chambliss an injunction against the NCAA. The ruling means that Chambliss has met the criteria to receive a medical redshirt for a sixth season and is eligible to play in the 2026 season.

The NCAA can still appeal the judge's decision, but as it stands Chambliss is on track to play for Ole Miss in 2026. It's a huge win for the Rebels, who now return one of the best quarterbacks in the country and have hopes of competing for a National Championship in Pete Golding's first full season at the helm of the program.
Chambliss' return also sets up for a massive battle between LSU and Ole Miss on September 19.
LSU at Ole Miss will be must watch television for all college football fans
In Week 3 of the upcoming college football season, LSU hits the road to face Ole Miss in Oxford. Lane Kiffin's return to Oxford was already going to be one of the most anticipated games of the entire college football season, but now the matchup has reached a new level of excitement.
Kiffin brought Chambliss to Ole Miss after he won the Division II National Championship at Ferris State in 2024, and developed him into one of the best quarterbacks in the country. On the season, Chambliss threw for 3,937 yards and 22 touchdowns with just three interceptions. He also was an effective runner, rushing for 527 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground.
When Kiffin was first hired at LSU, many fans across the country wondered if he would try to bring Chambliss with him. But, the uncertainty surrounding Chambliss' eligibility led Kiffin to pursue other quarterbacks through the portal.
Kiffin ended up signing Sam Leavitt, the No. 1 overall player in the portal. He also brought in former 5-star recruit Husan Longstreet from USC and FCS All-American Landen Clark from Elon, giving LSU arguably the deepest quarterback room in the country.
After losing to Ole Miss in Oxford last season, Tiger fans are hungry for revenge against the Rebels. With so many intriguing storylines to follow, the matchup between LSU and Ole Miss on September 19 will be must-watch television for all college football fans.
