Not every Rookie season is an incredible start to a career like Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr have had this season. That sentiment rang true for Kayshon Boutte during his rookie season after being drafted in the 6th round by the Patriots in 2023.
After the first game last season, Kayshon Boutte fell out of favor with Bill Belichick and hardly saw the field the rest of the season. Boutte finished his rookie campaign with two catches for 19 yards before Belichick was fired and a regime change took place.
The Patriots then selected two wide receivers early on in the draft and given the regime change and the fact Boutte was on the roster bubble and didn't play in the Preseason Finale it seemed he may be looking for a fresh start early on in his career. The biggest X-Factor for Boutte became a budding chemistry with 3rd Overall Pick Drake Maye as he quickly became one of the Rookies' top targets emerging as a key piece for the Patriots.
Kayson Boutte ended his second season in the NFL with 68 catches for 589 yards and three touchdowns finishing third on the team in receiving yards and tied for the team lead in receiving touchdowns.
Boutte wrapped up the best year of his young career with the best game of his career catching 7 passes for 117 yards and a touchdown on Sunday.
Boutte will now be on his third Head Coach and his third Offensive Coordinator in his third season in the league which is never easy to deal with. The good news for Boutte is he's played well alongside the team's franchise quarterback which should only help in keeping him in New England.
Based on how rocky the start of his career was, Boutte could've let his situation affect him but, he put his head down improved a ton and now looks to further grow in his third season.
