Kenny Lacy is completely on board with Frank Wilson.

The father of former LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy gave his full endorsement to the Tigers' running backs coach taking over the program on an interim basis while adding some sharp criticism of now-former coach Brian Kelly in a Facebook post this morning.

What did Kenny Lacy say?

Kenny Lacy suggested that Kelly never reached out to the family after Kyren Lacy's death in April. The younger Lacy played at LSU under Kelly for three seasons from 2022-2024.

"This dude [Frank Wilson] actually came to sit down with our family and showed us some real genuine love when my son died along with a couple other coaches. I didn't even get a call or text from that dude in the back [Brian Kelly]. Must be nice to get paid millions to get your walking papers...let's get is Coach Frank."

Kelly has made comments about Kyren Lacy on different occasions. A couple of deaths after his April 12 death, Kelly said in a media session that Lacy would be fondly remembered by his teammates.

"I'll remember him as somebody that had a love for the game, a love for being a Tiger and was a guy that played with great emotion. When you think of Kyren, you're going to smile most of the time because of the way he handled himself. He was a guy that was full of energy and I think a lot of his teammates will remember him that way as well," Kelly said.

When new evidence about the hit-and-run case that Lacy was involved with was presented earlier this month, Kelly reiterated that Lacy was loved by the program and asked for patience with the legal proceedings.

Wilson brings excitement and authenticity back to LSU

Kenny Lacy and LSU fans seem to agree that Wilson is the right man to steer the ship for the Tigers through the rest of the 2025 season. Wilson, a New Orleans native, is in his second stint as LSU running backs coach. He was with the Tigers from 2010-2015 under Les Miles and returned in 2022 under Kelly.

Wilson's roots in Louisiana run deep. He played high school football at St. Augustine and college at Nicholls State. He was also head coach at McNeese before returning to LSU. Wilson has FBS head coaching experience with three seasons at UTSA. He is widely respected as one of the best recruiters in the country and will surely be a favorite to remain on staff after this season.
