LSU's defensive line has the potential to be scary good in 2025. The incoming 2026 recruiting class is headlined by 5-stars Lamar Brown and Richard Anderson, both of whom are expected to play on the defensive line. Those commits alone are enough to have LSU fans fired up, but Lane Kiffin could be cooking up something even bigger through the transfer portal.
Michael Van Buren commits to new school after one season with LSU
According to Shea Dixon of On3, LSU is hosting former Tennessee EDGE Jordan Ross on campus on Wednesday. His visit to Baton Rouge comes about 24 hours after he initially entered the portal, which means that LSU is most likely one of his top choices.

Lane Kiffin looking to bolster LSU's defensive line
LSU's defensive line could get a big boost if Kiffin is able to land Ross through the portal. A former 5-star recruit, Ross was ranked as the No. 9 overall player and the top EDGE prospect in the nation for the 2024 recruiting class by 247Sports.
He spent the first two seasons of his collegiate career with the Tennessee Volunteers, and while his numbers don't jump off the page, he is just scratching the surface of his elite potential.
As a freshman in 2024, Ross appeared in 11 games but didn't make much of an impact. He saw a bigger role in 2025, which led to a better statistical season. He totaled 23 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks to go along with a forced fumble over 11 games. Again, those numbers may not be other-worldly, but Ross certainly has the potential to be a big-time playmaker in the SEC.
According to Conner Lisner of All For Tennessee, Ross' best traits are his quick first step and the ability to run the hoop to beat tackles. He has 22 career games under his belt, and has 2 years of eligibility remaining. Ross has a bright future ahead, and Tiger fans are hoping that it takes place in Baton Rouge.
