In less than two months on the job, Lane Kiffin has already signed double the amount of 5-star players at LSU than he did in six years at Ole Miss.
Kiffin and LSU have three 5-star recruits coming to Baton Rouge as a part of the 2026 recruiting class (DL Lamar Brown, DL Richard Anderson, and WR Corey Barber), and three 5-stars coming to LSU through the transfer portal (QB Sam Leavitt, EDGE Princewill Umanmielen, and OT Jordan Seaton).

But Kiffin isn't settling.
Kiffin and his staff have their eyes on 5-star cornerback Joshua Dobson, and are looking to make him the 3rd prospect to join LSU's 2027 recruiting class.

According to Rivals, Dobson is slated to be in Baton Rouge this weekend on a visit to LSU. The highly-touted recruit is ranked as the top overall player in North Carolina and the No. 2 cornerback in the country for the 2027 class by 247Sports.

Dobson's visit to Baton Rouge will be his second in the span of six months. He was in attendance for LSU's 20-10 victory over South Carolina on October 11. The atmosphere in Tiger Stadium that night was arguably the best of the season, and it seems that the visit went well for Dobson. Now, he is set to make his first visit to LSU since Kiffin took over the program.
As it stands, LSU's 2027 recruiting class includes just two players: 4-star QB Peyton Houston and 4-star EDGE Jaiden Bryant. Adding Dobson to that list would be a massive victory for Kiffin and the Tigers. It took little time for 5-star freshman DJ Pickett to make an impact at cornerback for LSU in 2025, which could pave the way for a player like Dobson to do the same.
Dobson is garnering interest from Power 4 programs all over the country. He has already racked up offers from the likes of Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, and Notre Dame, among others. With so many other teams in the mix, Tiger fans are hoping that Dobson's second visit to LSU this weekend leaves a lasting impression.
