The college football coaching carousel is on pace to set records this season. Ten coaches have already been shown the door this season, with LSU's firing of Brian Kelly this past Sunday being the most groundbreaking of the group. Names of potential replacements are flying around social media, which has college football fans around the country interested to see what direction the school decides to go with its next football coach.

LSU AD Scott Woodward has some explaining to do after coaching fiascos

After dishing out horrendous coaching contracts to Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M and Brian Kelly at LSU, athletic director Scott Woodward can't afford to whiff on his next hire. As the coaching search begins, LSU fans are ready to go all-in on one name: Lane Kiffin. Kiffin has Ole Miss looking like one of the best teams in the country, and handed LSU a 24-19 loss earlier this season. But would Kiffin leave Ole Miss, a place he has made home for him and his family over the past few years?

Lane Kiffin's social media post shows love to Ole Miss

Kiffin is very active on social media, and loves to throw around a good troll post every now and again. But his post to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday seemed more sincere. Kiffin posted a photo of his family on the field at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium with the text "Ok, velvet ditch. Do your thing."

The term "Velvet ditch" refers to a nickname for Oxford, MS, where the University of Mississippi is located. It's a phrase that describes the southern college town's charm and comfort that makes it hard to leave. Kiffin also added the home emoji to his post, making it clear that Oxford is home for him and his family right now.

As college football fans wonder if Kiffin would leave Ole Miss for a different job, Kiffin's post has people convinced he is staying put. But there is a lot of football left to be played this season, and a lot can happen between now and the College Football Playoff. Kiffin has also been linked to the Florida job opening, but LSU figures to pursue Kiffin aggressively as well.

Only time will tell what LSU will do, and whether or not Kiffin is even open to leaving Oxford in the coming weeks. But Woodward and company at least need to give him a call. LSU is arguably the most attractive job in college football, meaning the top coaches in the sport figure to throw their hats in the ring.
