This weekend was a busy one for Lane Kiffin on the recruiting front. LSU hosted several high-profile recruits over the weekend, with 5-star cornerback Joshua Dobson among the elite prospects on campus. Dobson, the No. 1 cornerback in the country for the 2027 class, arrived in Baton Rouge on Thursday night with his visit going through Sunday.

Dobson's visit appears to have gone well, as he told Rivals that he enjoyed an "amazing weekend" in Baton Rouge. Now, Kiffin appears to be on the verge of adding the 5-star corner to LSU's 2027 recruiting class.

LSU predicted to land nation's top cornerback

Dobson has now taken two visits to LSU over the last two months. He was previously in attendance at Tiger Stadium on October 11 when the Tigers defeated South Carolina by a score of 20-10 in front of a raucous Tiger crowd. Now after this weekend's latest visits, industry experts are considering LSU the frontrunners to sign the highly-toured cornerback.

On Monday, it was announced that Rivals' Steve Wiltfong has logged an expert prediction for LSU to land Dobson. Furthermore, On3 has Dobson heading to LSU with a prediction percentage of 79.1%.

According to Rivals' recruiting rankings, Dobson is theĀ No. 3 overall player in the country and the No. 1 cornerback in the 2027 recruiting class. As it stands, LSU'sĀ 2027 classĀ features 4-star EDGE Jaiden Bryant and 4-star QB Peyton Houston. Adding a 5-star of Dobson's caliber would set the tone as Kiffin continues building LSU's 2027 class.

Defensive backs coach Corey Raymond has been at the forefront of bringing elite cornerback talent to Baton Rouge in recent seasons. Last year, Raymond help land DJ Pickett, who was the nation's top cornerback. Raymond then led LSU's efforts to sign Havon Finney who was the top cornerback of the 2027 class before reclassifying.

The Tigers have been on a recruiting hot streak with Kiffin at the helm of the program, as LSU's new head coach signed 14 players during the Early Signing Period and added over 40 transfers through the portal. Landing Dobson would be yet another massive victory for Kiffin and his staff.
