On Tuesday, the SEC named its 2024 SEC Football Legends class naming one representative from each school who will be honored during SEC Championship weekend during the "Weekend of Champions".

In 2023, defensive back James Britt represented LSU as he played for the Tigers from 1979 through 1982 earning All-American and All-SEC honors in 1982. The LSU Tigers' representative in the 2024 Legends Class is offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth.

Whitworth attended LSU from 2001 through 2005 redshirting in 2001 before becoming a starter. Whitworth was a key piece of LSU in the early 2000's helping the Tigers in winning the SEC in 2003 as well as the National Championship. While at LSU, Whitworth was twice named to the All-SEC team twice and was a Second-Team All American in 2005.

After LSU, Whitworth became one of the NFL's best offensive linemen making four Pro Bowl's, three All Pro teams, winning the Walter Peyton Man of the Year Award, and winning Super Bowl LVI. As a Louisiana Native who thrived in College and in the NFL while also being a great figure in the community, there isn't a better pick to represent LSU.

One strange factor of the 2024 SEC Legends Class is the fact that Texas and Oklahoma will now be represented with Vince Young representing the Longhorns and Barry Switzer representing the Sooners. We get that the SEC wants to involve all of its schools but, pretending that Young and Switzer are SEC figures is a bit strange.

Now, let's hope that the LSU Football team plays its way to Atlanta so we can give Andrew Whitworth plenty of fans in the stands.
