Last season, LSU's game against Florida was far from ideal, with the Gators upsetting the Tigers and conveniently flipping a few recruits in their direction. This year, the LSU Tigers and head coach Brian Kelly are looking to reverse their fortunes.

On Thursday, Rivals reported that the Tigers would host four-star running back KJ Edwards in Baton Rouge on Saturday, when LSU was set to play the Florida Gators.

Edwards, who is currently committed to the Texas A&M Aggies, is the No. 4 running back in the class of 2026 and committed to the Aggies over the Tigers, Texas Longhorns, and other powerhouse programs.

This game, especially following last season's upset, is the perfect opportunity for Kelly and his staff to turn the attention of top prospects in their direction. LSU is the No. 3 team in the nation. Florida started as a Top 25 program. This game is big-time for both sides.

Edwards already took an official visit to LSU earlier this year, also taking a trip to Texas A&M and Baylor Bears. He took eight total visits to the Longhorns' home base in Austin, with just two total visits to the Aggies' home in College Station.

The Texas native has clearly taken his time to ensure that he feels at home with his next program, but a big-time win over a conference rival can do a lot to sway a young prospect in the direction of your team, especially a team like LSU.

Already this season, Kelly and the Tigers marched into that other Death Valley and upset the then-No. 4 Clemson Tigers. Then they dominanted their in-state rivals, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. So far, LSU is 2-0 and is undeniably trending in the right direction, moving from No. 9 in the preseason AP Top 25 to currently holding the No. 3 ranking in the nation.

Kelly is doing all the right things in Baton Rouge and hosting Edwards is just another opportunity to further improve the already powerhouse program.
