If you are planning to go to LSU Baseball games on the weekend, you may need to start considering it a two day affair as LSU has now gone past midnight in back to back days. On Saturday Night, storms in the area pushed the start back once again causing the game to end at nearly two in the morning once again. When the tarp did come off of Skip Bertman Field, it was clear LSU's offense was ready to go.

After Chase Shores shut Mississippi State out in the top of the first, LSU's offense exploded for eight runs. Bear Jones got the scoring started with a two run blast off of the batters eye in centerfield setting the tone for the game.

Ethan Frey was next to plate a pair as he hit a single up the middle, scoring Steven Milam and Daniel Dickinson. Chris Stanfield kept the scoring going as he singled to left field, scoring Jake Brown before Derek Curiel and Jared Jones each scored a runner on RBI singles. Derek Curiel would then score on a double steal.

The long first inning may have affected Chase Shores as he allowed Mississippi State to cut the lead in half scoring four runs. In the bottom half of the second, LSU was able to push the lead back to five runs as Daniel Dickinson scored on a Jake Brown single.

The fourth inning brought a scary moment as Chase Shores took a ball off the face giving him a massive shiner. Despite the swelling, Shores stayed in the game and was able to strand a pair showing everyone how tough he is.

As LSU was going to need to go to its bullpen, the Tigers offense quickly got to work extending their lead as Daniel Dickinson drove home a pair on a double to right center.

In the sixth inning, Mavrick Rizy would surrender a run on a sacrifice fly to center but, LSU scored a pair as Luis Hernandez singled home a run before Jake Brown stole home after Chris Stanfield wasn't able to get the squeeze down.

DJ Primeaux struggled in the 7th inning walking the first two batters he faced which led to Mississippi State scoring three runs in the inning making this a game once again. Like LSU's offense did the entire game, the Tigers got right back to work and were able to claw one run back on a Steven Milam sacrifice fly to center.

After Cooper Williams plunked the only batter he faced, Jaden Noot came in and was able to work himself out of trouble getting a fly out and a double play which kept Mississippi State from doing any damage. Noot allowed LSU's offense to then put this game away as Luis Hernandez hit a solo home run, Daniel Dickinson hit an RBI single, and Steven Milam hit yet another sac fly.

In the 9th inning, Jaden Noot was able to close this one out quickly striking out a pair and getting a flyout to end the game.

The Tigers offense once again stepped up on a night where the pitching staff was going to need a ton of help. The trio at the top of Derek Curiel, Jared Jones, and Daniel Dickinson did most of the heavy lifting going 8-13 with 4 walks, 7 RBIs, and 8 runs scored. Chris Stanfield continues to be such a crucial piece for LSU at the bottom of the order as he went 3-5 helping turn the lineup over while scoring 3 runs and driving in another. Luis Hernandez is looking like the power hitter Jay Johnson brought him in to be as he homered yet again continuing his hot streak.

Chase Shores didn't have a perfect outing allowing four runs but, he was able to give LSU four innings and likely could've gone deeper in this game if not for LSU being cautious. Jaden Noot continues to impress after his two weekday starts as he came in and closed out the final two innings of this game striking out a pair while allowing just one hit.

LSU now has a few days off before hosting Louisiana Tech on Tuesday, followed by a weekend series against Oklahoma.
