Last Week was business as usual for the LSU Baseball team as the Tigers won all four of their games including their first series of SEC Play. The week started with a dominant 18-4 win over Xavier before the Tigers before LSU swept Missouri by a combined score of 29-16. LSU played two close games this week but, ultimately came out on top.

While LSU went unbeaten, the Tigers have fallen from the Top Ranking in D1Baseball's Top 25 as the Tennessee Volunteers have snatched the Top Ranking.

The issue for LSU wasn't poor play as the Tigers went 4-0 on the week but, two of the games being close is why LSU will fall. Tennessee improved to 20-0 this weekend beating West Georgia to start the week before sweeping the Top 10 Florida Gators including a 10 run rule win.

The drop from 1st to 2nd after a perfect week marks the first time in D1Baseball's history that a team has fallen from the top spot after an undefeated week. While LSU falls, being ranked 2nd in the Country this early in the year is still a massive honor for the Tigers and it gives the team some extra fuel now.

The SEC Dominance is on full display in this week's rankings as Tennessee, LSU, Arkansas, and Georgia are ranked 1-4 as the SEC has 6 of the Top 10 teams, 8 of the Top 15, and 10 of the Top 20 teams with 11 ranked teams. The biggest story of the week in the SEC continues to be Texas A&M's collapse as the top ranked team coming into the year was swept by Alabama and is now ranked outside the Top 25.

This week, LSU opens up play facing off against New Orleans before a massive matchup against the 8th ranked Texas Longhorns in Austin.
