The LSU Basketball team had a massive start to its transfer portal recruiting run as the Tigers were seemingly adding a piece every day. The additions by Matt McMahon helped offset the massive number of departures the LSU Tigers had after an abysmal 3-15 season in SEC play. A month has since passed and the Tigers haven't land any commitments since the initial wave which had to change as LSU lacked depth at guard and on the wings.

On Wednesday, LSU Basketball finally resumed its transfer portal hunt adding UC Davis forward Pablo Tamba.

What Pablo Tamba Brings to the Tigers — Size, Defense, and Serious Upside

On Wednesday, the UC Davis transfer and Spain native announced his decision to transfer to the LSU Basketball team.

Pablo Tamba is a 6 foot 7 forward that will likely translate to a small forward for the LSU Basketball team as Matt McMahon adds yet another 6 foot 7 wing. The Malaga, Spain Native started his career at Idaho State but, didn't make much of an impact transferring to Indiana River State College. After his second season in college, Tamba made the move to UC Davis where he's spent the last two seasons of his career.

This season at UC Davis was far and away the best season for Tamba as he scored 11.3 points per game with 5.3 rebounds per game, 1.1 assists per game, and 0.8 blocks per game. Tamba didn't shoot the three pointer often and when he did he was a 25% shooter meaning he'll be a more impactful player for the Tigers inside the arc.

In Pablo Tamba, the LSU Basketball team is getting a high upside piece, who has the athletic ability to translate to the SEC.

Where Tamba will likely make the biggest impact is on the defensive end of the court for the Tigers. Tamba has the size and length to switch onto guards and centers which was clearly a priority for Matt McMahon as he added 2 other 6 foot 7 wings in Max MacKinnon and Rashad King. This summer when Tamba works out with the team we'll get a better sense of what his impact may be but, this is a high upside addition for LSU.
