The LSU Basketball team is still putting the finishing touches on its roster for the 2025-26 season. On Wednesday, LSU lost its 7th transfer of the offseason and what should be its final transfer portal departure as Curtis Givens III departs the program.
After losing Curtis Givens III, the LSU Tigers can once again look to the transfer portal to build out this roster. Looking at the roster, the biggest needs are now at guard as the team now needs a backup point guard and on the wing as the Tigers can still use a wing that can score alongside Dedan Thomas Jr.
As LSU looks to fill out this roster, the Tigers are still pursuing transfers, one of which is Brown transfer and former SMU commit Nana Owusu-Anane.
LSU eyeing former Brown star Nana Owusu-Anane
As former SMU commit Nana Owusu-Anane reopens his recruitment, the LSU Basketball team is one of the team’s checking in.
Owusu-Anane started his career at Brown spending three seasons as one of Brown’s key pieces. After missing the entire 2024-25 season with a torn labrum, Brown entered the transfer portal before committing to SMU.
After initially considering schools like Arizona State, Baylor, Kansas, Louisville, Kansas State, and others, Owusu-Anane is once again one of the top transfer targets available. In his last season with Brown, Owusu-Anane averaged 14.7 Points per game, 8.8 rebounds per game, 2.1 assists per game, 1.0 blocks per game, and 1.3 steals per game.
At 6 foot 8, Owusu-Anane can play either small forward, power forward, or Center for the Tigers depending on the personnel used. Not only can Owusu-Anane fill it up on the offensive end but, he’ll grab rebounds for the Tigers while being a difference maker on the defensive end.
In the days to come, it’ll be interesting to see whether or not LSU is able to get him on campus as he could be another impact player for a team that desperately needed to add size and talent.
