LSU Basketball loses Forward Daimion Collins to a shoulder injury
During LSU's stint at the Greenbrier Classic the Tigers went 1-1 which overall is a successful trip but, the Tigers lost more than a game. Against Pittsburgh, Redshirt Junior Daimion Collins soared for a dunk and on Pittsburgh's attempt to block the shot Collins came down holding his shoulder.
A shoulder injury was the most concerning as its the same shoulder that Daimion Collins injured last year and missed most of the season as he had it surgically repaired.
Collins missed Sunday's game against UCF sitting the game out while LSU won in Triple Overtime. Upon returning to Baton Rouge, Collins underwent testing and will be out for an unknown period as he recovers.
On Wednesday we learned that Collins dislocated his shoulder and will be out for the foreseeable future but, Matt McMahon did say they're hopeful that he'll return this season. The loss is a blow to the team as Collins was playing 17 minutes per game scoring 5.0 points per game with 4.2 rebounds per game, and a team leading 1.4 blocks per game.
In his absence, the LSU Basketball team will turn towards several players to fill the void down low. The Tigers have gotten a massive start to the season from Jalen Reed who will continue to be this teams force in the paint. Corey Chest has given this team a massive energy jolt as of late and he'll need to continue his development. The players you'd like to see more out of are Robert Miller and Derek Fountain as they'll see an increase in their playing time.
The month of December is very manageable for LSU with two tough games on the slate but, if you could get Collins back for SEC play that would be a massive win and a boost to the team.
