The LSU Basketball team has undergone wholesale roster changes this offseason as the Tigers look to rebound from a 3-15 season in SEC Play. Through the first two weeks of the transfer portal, LSU has lost six players to the transfer portal but have brought in five high level transfers to help reshape this roster.
While LSU has done a great job bringing in impressive pieces to help change the direction of the program, the Tigers likely aren't done yet. As Matt McMahon and his staff look to fill out the final spaces on the roster, the Tigers still need one more elite scorer. Ideally, Matt McMahon and his staff cam close the cycle out landing a proven scorer from the Power Four level as we've seen some of the Mid-Major transfers fail.
As the Tigers look to end this transfer cycle with a bang, three players currently in the transfer portal fit the billing of a superstar addition.
Ian Jackson - North Carolina - Shooting Guard
The LSU Tigers have added players on the wng but, you can never have too many scorers especially ones that can be multi-year players. North Carolina freshman Ian Jackson entered the transfer portal and he'll be a familiar name for Tigers fans because while North Carolina won out in the recruitment for the five-star recruit, LSU was one of the finalists along with Kentucky, Oregon, and Arkansas.
This season at North Carolina, Ian Jackson, averaged 11.9 points per game and 2.7 rebounds per game while shooting 39.5% from three and 45.6% from the field. Jackson can step in right away and give LSU a scoring threat alongside Dedan Thomas Jr as both could be multi-year players for the Tigers.

Mackenzie Mgbako - Indiana - Forward
On Monday, Matt McMahon hired former Indiana Assistant Coach Yasir Rosemond who spent the last four seasons with the Hoosiers. The hiring of Rosemond could help LSU out if the Tigers look to land Indiana transfer Mackenzie Mgbako. Mgbako was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2023-24 and this season his stats were nearly identical. For LSU, Mgbako would be a massive addition as a 6-foot-9 forward with the ability to knock down the three and score at every level.

Tyon Grant-Foster - Grand Canyon - Forward
The last addition for LSU has to be a wing player that can carry the team in scoring on any given night preferably at Small Forward. If you've watched the NCAA Tournament the last two seasons, Tyon Grant-Foster has been that level of player for Grand Canyon. The 6 foot 7 forward averaged 14.8 points per game which was a down season compared to last season. Grant-Foster has the ability to get hot from three but, he's at his best attacking the rim.
Tyon Grant-Foster is such an impressive driver - gets the switch vs. an NBA athlete in Isaiah Crawford, the footwork to crossover, change direction and instantly burst downhill
