The 2024-25 College Basketball season was a massive disappointment for the LSU Tigers as the team took a massive step back after showing promise the year prior. As the LSU Basketball team continues to work its way back toward contention in the SEC and Nationally, the Tigers went out and used the transfer portal to make this roster a competitor with an elite transfer haul.
In 2025, Matt McMahon will need to show that he's capable of taking the program to the NCAA Tournament and competing in the Big 1SEC2. One of the issues with the 2024-25 season is the fact that LSU's Non-Conference schedule did the team no favors as LSU faced mostly opponents that had no chance of beating LSU.
Heading into this season, the fanbase wanted more games that could challenge this team and serve as NCAA Tournament resume building wins. On Saturday, the LSU Basketball team scheduled what could be its toughest game of the 2025-26 season.

While LSU had a great offseason, the Texas Tech Red Raiders will have a ton of buzz heading into the season as many project they'll be one of the best teams in the Country. The biggest question for the Red Raiders is whether or not Darrion Williams will return next season as he's currently testing his status with the NBA Draft process. If Williams returns, the Red Raiders easily have a Top 5 roster in the Country which would make this game a massive test for LSU.
This game will be a great chance to prove that the program is back on track for Matt McMahon and the LSU Basketball team. When you go out and bring in a massive transfer class with pieces like Dedan Thomas Jr and Mike Nwoko it's to compete against teams like Texas Tech which the Tigers will need to do.
The rest of LSU's schedule should be revealed in the weeks to come and it'll be intriguing to see how many of the Nation's elite teams land on the Tigers schedule.
