On Monday, the College Basketball transfer portal will open allowing players to find their next destination with the second round of the NCAA Tournament concluding. For LSU, this transfer portal cycle is going to be the most important of Matt McMahon’s tenure at LSU.
The Tigers are coming off of a 15th place finish in the SEC with a 3-15 record after showing promise the season prior. The LSU Basketball program won’t be firing Matt McMahon, they’ll actually further invest in him as the Tigers are going to reinvest in the program spending more in NIL.
While LSU had a bad season, the Tigers will have a ton to replace as they’re guaranteed to lose three starters in Jordan Sears, Cam Carter, and Dji Bailey. The transfer portal could take several pieces from LSU which will make Monday important to follow.
The Tigers are showing early interest in several players with the latest interest being in UNLV transfer guard Jaden Henley.
UNLV transfer Jaden Henley has heard from these school since entering the portal, a source tells @LeagueRDY:

Henley averaged 12.5PPG, 4.2RPG, 1.8APG and 1.6SPG this season. Has also played at Minnesota and DePaul. pic.twitter.com/IXh1xXtQpu
This season at UNLV, Henley averaged 12.5 points per game, 4.2 rebounds per game, and 1.8 assists per game shooting 43.3% from the field and 35.1% from three.
Henley enters the transfer portal after UNLV fired its Head Coach but, he’ll be looking for his fourth school in as many seasons.
Henley is an attractive target for LSU for several reasons starting with the fact that he’s a guard with size which is ideal on defense in a league with so many talented scorers. He also possesses the ability to take over any game on offense which is exactly what LSU is going to be missing as Cam Carter is out of eligibility.
It’ll be interesting to see how quick LSU jumps on Henley as Matt McMahon looks to reshape this roster ahead of a pivotal season for the program.
