The LSU Tigers are halfway through the 2025 college football regular season. Through six games, LSU owns a 5-1 overall record with a 2-1 mark in SEC play and is ranked as the No. 10 team in the AP Poll. It's been a bumpy road, but the fact of the matter is that LSU has won the games they were supposed to, and they have another great opportunity on deck this weekend against No. 17 Vanderbilt.

LSU has yet to make the College Football Playoff under Brian Kelly. That is something he is looking to change this season. The schedule ahead is daunting, but it presents a massive opportunity to build a strong resume. Starting with a road trip to No. 17 Vanderbilt on Saturday, LSU still has games vs. No. 4 Texas A&M, at No. 6 Alabama, and at No. 14 Oklahoma this season. Despite major offensive struggles, the Tigers still have everything in front of them in regard to qualifying for the College Football Playoff and competing for a National Championship.

LSU College Football Playoff odds update

With odds of +200 via DraftKings Sportsbook, LSU has the 11th-best odds to make the College Football Playoff. That indicates an implied probability of 33.33%. SEC teams that have better odds than LSU at this point in time include Alabama (-400), Texas A&M (-300), Georgia (-200), Ole Miss (-150), and Texas (+125). Oklahoma has the same odds as LSU at +200.

ESPN's College Football Power Index gives LSU a 32.6% chance to make the playoff, which ranks 13th in the country and 6th among SEC teams. It also gives LSU a .07% chance to win out, a 1.7% chance to win the SEC title, a 2.7% chance to make the National Championship game, and a 0.9% chance to win it all.

All of those numbers will increase if LSU beats Vanderbilt this weekend. The Tigers are 2.5-point underdogs, but are plenty capable of leaving Nashville with a win. Kick-off between the Tigers and Commodores is set for 11:00 a.m. CT this Saturday on ABC.
