On Saturday Night, with the offseason right around the corner and no chance at the College Football Playoff the LSU Tigers easily could've checked out. Instead, you saw one of the most inspired performances of the season as Garrett Nussmeier battled through injury and the rest of the team rallied behind him. The Tigers played one of their best games of the season getting massive contributions in each phase of the game and for the performances, LSU took home three of the SEC's Weekly Awards.

We start with the SEC's Special Teams Player of the Week in Aaron Anderson who's first kick return of the season was a 100 yard kickoff return touchdown. Anderson's return was massive at the point of the game where it was uncertain if Garrett Nussmeier could return from his injury and the play gave the stadium a massive jolt of energy. Next season, we should see a ton of Aaron Anderson and Zavion Thomas returning kicks together and opposing teams should hope they can kick a touchback.

The SEC Defensive Player of the Week is Linebacker Whit Weeks who recorded a monster game yet again. Weeks was all over the field with 15 tackles, a sack, tackles for a loss, a forced fumble, and a quarterback hurry. The performance by Weeks was one of many great showings he's had this season marking his fifth game with ten or more tackles.

Finally, we get to the SEC's Freshman of the Week which is defensive tackle Dominick McKinley. On Saturday, McKinley flashed why he was a five star recruit recording a pair of sacks along with four tackles. Heading into the 2025 season, players like Whit Weeks and Dominick McKinley are going to lead the defense as they've given us plenty to be excited about.
