The 3rd round of the NFL Draft is rapidly coming to a close as team's prepare to make their final draft picks on day three. The LSU Tigers were quiet after LSU tight end Mason Taylor went in the second round but, the Tigers have had a flurry to end the second day. Emery Jones Jr kicked off the LSU run to end the day as the Baltimore Ravens selected the massive offensive tackle.
The LSU Tigers close Day Two with one final selection as edge rusher Sai'Vion Jones is selected 101st overall by the Denver Broncos.
LSU edge rusher Sai'Vion Jones will make plays right away for Denver
The Denver Broncos traded into the third round and they did so to land an instant impact player in LSU edge rusher Sai'Vion Jones. The Louisiana Native played all four seasons for the LSU Tigers making an impact from the time he arrived on campus.
Jones' first glimpses of potential came as a Sophomore when he racked up 4.5 sacks as a rotational pass rusher for the Tigers. When Jones became a starter in 2023, his production took a step back as he recorded just 2.5 sacks. His senior season was his most complete to date as Sai'Vion Jones recorded another 4.5 sacks and was a solid run defender.
The Denver Broncos are getting a power defensive end who is at his best with his hand in the dirt rather than playing a linebacker role. Jones' has the size and length to develop into a solid pass rusher and he plays with a high motor which will help in his development. Early on in his career, Jones will make an impact for the team stopping the run while he can give the team some solid reps at pass rusher.
