Before the game even started there was drama for LSU as defensive starters Bradyn Swinson and Sage Ryan were suspended for the first quarter for "Not meeting team standards". Their suspensions left a mark on the first quarter as DJ Lagway had a ton of time to throw in the absence of Swinson. Dahvon Keys played slot while Major Burns dropped back to play in Sage Ryan's spot and Keys dropped a interception which was in his hands allowing Florida to take the next four plays 80 yards for a touchdown.
The Tigers didn't score until the second quarter when Mr. Reliable Aaron Anderson beat the defense for a 28 yard touchdown. The rest of the second quarter only consisted of Florida and LSU each making a field goal sending the game into halftime knotted at 10.
The third quarter was more of the same as the Tigers and Gators entered the fourth quarter tied at 13 all.
The Tigers had a great chance to nail DJ Lagway as Bradyn Swinson had a beat on him but, couldn't bring him down resulting in a touchdown.
After the score LSU went on a long drive to try and tie the game picking up multiple fourth downs yet, Brian Kelly decided to kick a questionable field goal to cut the Gators lead to four. The decision looked horrible nearly instantly as Jadan Baugh ripped off a 55 yard run for a touchdown giving Florida a 27-16 lead.
Some of the decisions this team makes are unexplainable as the Tigers were down 11 yet they showed no urgency allowing time to run off the clock at an unbelievable rate. Matters only got worse for LSU as Garrett Nussmeier got hurt and missed a play after Josh Williams couldn't pick up a blitz.
The Tigers have no excuses for losing this game and the Coaching staff needs to find some answers over the final two games of the year. The Tigers made mistake after mistake in this game with a missed field goal, short punts, dropped interceptions, fumbles, presnap penalties, and missed blocks.
If you asked any Florida fan if they thought this team or coach was any good, they'd tell you no yet, the Tigers got embarrassed. Brian Kelly has now lost three games in a row where it looked like the team was completely unprepared for their opponent. The offensive play calling continues to show its not working and given that the receivers aren't getting open the scheme needs to be changed.
Where are the changes for LSU as we're now in year three and this is the worst season yet under Brian Kelly. The staff continues to allow poor performances and allow mistakes and it shows in the teams effort. The Tigers have lost to two teams who had no hope this season two programs that want their coach fired.
The Coaching Staff needs to play the younger players
This coaching staff is too loyal to the upper classmen but, the rest of the way Brian Kelly and his staff need to play some of the younger players. LSU signed a pair of impressive true freshmen receivers who haven't played yet and if the veterans aren't getting open why not try the freshmen. The veteran safeties have been an issue for their entire careers at LSU and with pieces like Kylin Jackson and DaShawn Spears waiting to play why continue to start the seniors. Playing time should be earned not given and given how some of the veterans have played there should be some serious changes.
