On Wednesday Night, LSU could've made a bad season look a bit better in the SEC Tournament as the LSU Tigers faced off against Mississippi State. The Tigers were able to fight back from one deficit in the first half even taking a lead before Mississippi State snapped into rhythm and cruised to their largest win in SEC Tournament history over LSU.
While LSU may end up playing in the NIT Tournament but, the loss capped off what has been an abysmal season for the LSU Basketball team. The Tigers' 14-18 record doesn't tell the full story as LSU faced a ton of Quad Four opponents in Non-Conference play but, the Tigers 3-15 record in the SEC told the full story.
Following the brutal loss to end the season, LSU fans have taken to social media to let out their frustrations about the direction of the program. A simple search of "Matt McMahon" or scrolling through the comments on any of LSU's posts will show you the fanbases feelings but, here are a few examples.
There’s just no way anyone can be excited to have Matt McMahon back next season. You can give him all the money in the world in NIL and it still doesn’t change the fact that he’s a bad coach. A change must be made before this program drowns.

If Matt McMahon has a job after today I'm gonna lose my mind.

LSU basketball is the most pathetic program in the sport.
McNeese would beat LSU by double digits. No way they should bring Matt McMahon back next year.

This got to get McMahon fired. Right?

LSU is retaining Matt McMahon but, are they just kicking the can down the road?
In February, news broke that Matt McMahon was in no danger of losing his job as the school planned to give him more resources to build a roster that can compete in the SEC and compete on the recruiting trail. While the added resources are needed, it may not prove whether McMahon is the man for the job.
The Tigers will certainly be aggressive in the Transfer Portal but, its far from an exact science as plenty of other programs will have the same if not better resources. While the added resources will help LSU in the short term, McMahon also needs to show that he can be the answer long term otherwise the progeam will need to move on.
