Bowl Season is upon us as the LSU Tigers will head to Houston, Texas on New Year's Eve to take on the Baylor Bears in the Texas Bowl. The appearance will be LSU's 54th appearance in a bowl game and the third appearance in the Texas Bowl. Here is a look into LSU's Bowl Game History:

LSU first appeared in a Bowl Game when it played in an Unsanctioned Bowl Game against the University of Havana in the Bacardi Bowl in 1907 where the Tigers won 56-0. LSU's first sanctioned Bowl Game came in 1935 where LSU lost 3-2 to TCU in the Sugar Bowl. Overall, LSU has appeared in 53 NCAA recognized Bowl Games with a 29-24-1 record.

The LSU Tigers have appeared in a Bowl Game in every season thus far in the 2000's aside from 2020 when LSU self imposed a Bowl Ban with an 18-8 record over that span including College Football Playoff games.

The Tigers have appeared in the Sugar Bowl the most of any Bowl game with 13 appearances and a 6-7 record.

This year, LSU will take on the Baylor Bears in the Texas Bowl in Houston, Texas. LSU has appeared in the Texas Bowl twice, once in 2015 under Les Miles when LSU beat Texas Tech 56-27 as Leonard Fournette scored 5 touchdowns beating the Patrick Mahomes led Red Raiders. The other appearance came in the 2021 season in the Brad Davis led Bowl Game where LSU lost 42-20 to Kansas State with Jontre Kirklin playing Quarterback.

LSU has faced Baylor twice in Bowl Games holding an 0-2 record against the Bears. The first matchup was in the 1963 Bluebonnet Bowl where LSU lost 14-7, LSU would face Baylor again in the 1985 Liberty Bowl losing 21-7.
