As of late, few teams have picked up as much momentum as the LSU Tigers have over the past few weeks on the recruiting trail. The Tigers landed the commitment of Top 50 recruit and In-State star Brysten Martinez which sent the Tigers recruiting class to the 3rd best class in the Nation and the best class in the SEC.

The other portion of where LSU has picked up momentum is as recruits have narrowed down their list of schools they're considering keeping LSU in a short group of teams in contention. As of late, LSU has been named a finalist for Boobie Feaster, Ben Mubenga, Donovan Webb, O'Mari Johnson, JaReylan McCoy, and Immanuel Iheanacho among several others.

The latest to include LSU in their finalists' group is Texas Edge Rusher Jamarion Carlton who named LSU in his "Top 6".

Jamarion Carlton is one of the most sought after recruits in the 2026 recruiting class ranked by On3 as the 30th ranked player in the class, the 5th ranked edge rush class, and the 2nd best player out of Texas. Given that Carlton is out of Texas, the Tigers have steep competition as Texas, Texas A&M, SMU, and Baylor all made the final six.

The LSU Football team only signed one edge rusher in the 2025 recruiting class signing Damien Shanklin. Given that incoming transfers Patrick Payton, Jack Pyburn, and Jimari Butler are all Seniors, LSU will need to load up at edge rusher in this recruiting class to rebuild the defensive line room.

While Louisiana has a loaded group of recruits in the 2026 recruiting class, the State doesn't have a top edge rusher recruit in this cycle meaning LSU will need to look elsewhere in order to build up this class at edge rusher making Jamrion Carlton a perfet candidate to watch.
