Beyond statistical anomaly, LSU's streak celebrates the legacy established by dominant running backs like Leonard Fournette and defensive standouts like Patrick Peterson. LSU Tigers have officially extended their streak of having at least one player in the NFL's biggest game to 24 consecutive years- the longest active run in college football.

The streak began in 2002 with former Tiger Kevin Faulk's appearance for the New England Patriots. Over the years, 48 former Tigers have collectively won 59 Super Bowl rings, setting up the program's impact on the professional stage. Faulk himself remains the standard-bearer, with three Super Bowl rings and five total appearances- the most by any former LSU player.

Nine other Tigers have earned multiple rings, with Clyde Edwards-Helaire becoming the latest to achieve this feat with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022 and 2023. From Rohan Davey to Leonard Marshall, LSU's presence in the Super Bowl has been a recurring theme, with players not just participating, but winning at the highest level.

From Tiger Stadium to the Caesars Super Dome defensive back Andre' Sam and Running Back Tyrion Davis-Price will represent the university in Super Bowl LIX. While both players are on the Eagles' practice squad, Davis-Price reached the Super Bowl with the 49ers last season. Sam, meanwhile, made an immediate impact in his lone season with the Tigers in 2023, starting all 13 games.

Apart from the players, LSU's fingerprints can be seen on the coaching staff as well. Chiefs defensive line coach Joe Cullen once coached at LSU in 1999, while Kansas City safeties coach Donald D'Alesio was an analyst for the Tigers in 2020. Even Eagles Quarterback Coach Doug Nussmeier has LSU ties, as the father of LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier, tying the LSU Tigers to this year's championship showdown in an indirect yet significant way.

When the confetti falls on Sunday night, whether the Eagles or Chiefs emerge victorious, LSU's presence will be felt once again!
