The Spring Transfer Portal window has been open for nearly a week and for the LSU Football program, things have been rather quiet. The Tigers haven't had any shocking losses as Brian Kelly told John Emery Jr to hit the transfer portal while Javen Nicholas is a former walk on who will look for playing time elsewhere.

After bringing in the biggest transfer portal class of Brian Kelly's tenure, the Spring was always going to be a quiet period for the LSU Football team. While LSU fans and the coaching staff expected a quiet Spring in the transfer portal there were a few needs LSU wanted filled. The biggest need is at defensive tackle where the Tigers searched for an SEC caliber player in the transfer portal last spring but, the asking prices were too high.

The Nation's top available transfer Bernard Gooden to visit LSU

The LSU Football team appears to be swinging for the fences this Spring as the Tigers will get the top transfer defensive lineman Bernard Gooden on campus Thursday Night for a visit.

Getting Bernard Gooden on campus is massive news for the LSU Football team as the Tigers will look to add one of the best defensive tackles to the defense. While LSU will bank on its younger pieces emerging along with veteran Jacobian Guillory bouncing back from injury alongside transfer Sydir Mitchell, the Tigers needed more high upside pieces.

Bernard Gooden started his career at Wake Forest before transferring to USF where he emerged in his lone season as a starter. Gooden racked up 35 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, and 1.5 sacks with a 82.5 PFF Grade.

Getting the top player in the transfer portal to campus shows that the LSU Football team is willing to spend once again this spring which is massive news for the Tigers. The past year LSU fans have been begging for the team to fill the need with an impact player and if the Tigers can seal the deal, the defense will get that massive piece.
