The new-look LSU defense continues to impress so far in 2025. The second season under defensive coordinator Blake Baker is yielding tremendous results to this point, and Tiger fans are fired up about it. Not only are fans and media members taking notice of LSU's impressive defensive play, but one former Tiger is loving what he's seeing.

Tyrann Mathieu loves what he sees from LSU's defense

After LSU picked off Florida quarterback DJ Lagway five times in the first three quarters on Saturday night, LSU Football legend Tyrann Mathieu took to social media to share his excitement.

Sophomore safety Dashawn Spears stole the show, as he picked off Lagway twice, which included a 58-yard pick six. The play gave LSU a 20-10 lead in the third quarter, and proved to be more than enough for the Tigers to move to 3-0. It was a breakout performance for the sophomore safety, who made the most of his opportunities on Saturday night.

Other interceptions came from AJ Haulcy, Tamarcus Cooley, and DJ Pickett. Needless to say, Lagway is going to have nightmares of his first visit to Death Valley.

Pickett, a true freshman, entered the 2025 season with plenty of hype. The former No. 1 cornerback and five-star recruit has been seeing plenty of action early on this season, and he is delivering. His fourth quarter interception on Saturday night was the first of his career, and hopefully, the first of many. Together, this Tiger secondary has LSU looking like DBU once again.
