February is finally over and the Month of March brings Spring Practices and Recruiting weekends which will get everyone back in the swing of College Football. The biggest news story for the LSU Football team is replacing Bo Davis who left the program last week for an NFL Job. The Tigers are also set for several massive recruiting events as Monday the Recruiting Dead Period is no longer in effect.
Heading into the week, here is some of the latest news surrounding the LSU Football Program.
LSU shut down by defensive line coach candidate
The biggest news of the offseason came just weeks from the start of Spring practice as defensive line coach Bo Davis was hired by the New Orleans Saints just a year after joining LSU. The Tigers now have to push for a defensive line coach quickly to have a coach in place for an important stretch of recruiting and development. Bruce Feldman reported that Gerald Chatman emerged as the top candidate but, will stay at Florida.
SOURCE: After a lot of consideration, Gerald Chatman who was a top target for the LSU D-line coaching vacancy, has opted to remain at Florida. In his first season at UF, the Gators made big jumps in sacks, TFLs and turnovers. LSU is looking to hire its EIGHTH D-line coach since…

This week should see LSU add their defensive line Coach as LSU needs a coach to recruit as recruits are expected in this month as well as coaching a room that added five new pieces.
LSU Still Pushing for Texas Commit Dia Bell
As of late, the biggest storyline for the LSU Football program has been the push to nab an elite quarterback on the recruiting trail. The Tigers held a commitment from the best quarterback in the 2025 recruiting cycle Bryce Underwood right up until the finish line before Michigan swooped in to keep Underwood at home. Losing Underwood hurt LSU's 2026 recruiting efforts as none of the elite quarterbacks wanted to get on board with no clear path to playing time.
After losing Underwood, LSU's attention turned toward landing a quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class but, the issue has been most are already committed to other schools. The Tigers made a strong push to flip Jonas Williams from Oregon as he strongly considered LSU but, the Tigers saw him flip instead to USC.
The Tigers next flip target appears to be Texas Commit Dia Bell whom LSU is still making a push for.

Bell appears set on attending Texas but, the Tigers continue to push for the Nation's fifth ranked player and second ranked quarterback according to On3.
LSU debuts at 10th in the Top 25 of SP+
SP+ is one of the best metrics for predicting future results as the formula takes into account returning production, recent recruiting metrics, and the recent performance of the program. LSU debuts at 10th in SP+ which is both promising for LSU and a bit misguided. It's promising that LSU is projected to be one of the ten best team's in the Country but, they'd also miss the playoff finishing tenth in this scenario. The losses on the offensive line are real which hurts LSU's score but, the Tigers lose a ton of production in places LSU feels the team will be better.
