On Monday, the LSU Football team finished their 6th Spring Practice of the offseason. As the Spring has progressed, several pieces are starting to separate themselves from other players in their position battle while LSU's incoming pieces continue to gel. Following Monday's practice, a few storylines stand out as the Spring continues to progress.
Josh Thompson Arrives in Baton Rouge
The excitement for the 2025 season is through the roof after Brian Kelly and his staff went out and landed a transfer class that will have LSU in College Football Playoff contention. As Spring Practice kicked off only one transfer wasn't in attendance until Monday. On Monday, Josh Thompson officially arrived in Baton Rouge finishing up his classes at Northwestern and will join the Tigers for the rest of the Spring.
Getting Josh Thompson in the fold this Spring is massive news as LSU is trying to build a cohesive offensive line after losing four veteran starters to the NFL. Thompson will occupy one of the guard positions, and his veteran experience will help in the development of LSU's younger linemen.

5-Star Freshman DJ Pickett is impressing early on
As LSU's secondary play wasn't meeting the standard, Brian Kelly brought Corey Raymond back to the boot and in his first recruiting cycle he nabbed the Nation's top cornerback. As LSU looks to rebuild the secondary, Pickett looks like a starter as soon as Week 1 for LSU. After practice on Monday, incoming transfer Mansoor Delane had high praise for Pickett's performance thus far.
"Whatever that Five-Star Plus is, that’s true. He’s as good as advertised."Mansoor Delane
Michael Turner and Dashawn Spears impress on Monday
The Tigers' secondary could see an entirely new group of starters next season as the younger players continue to develop while Corey Raymond brought his own pieces in. On Monday, Michael Turner had an impressive day with an interception and a pass breakup while working with the second team. Sophomore Safety Dashawn Spears impressed as well as he was able to pick off Michael Van Buren.
LSU's Tight End Room is loaded
The biggest takeaway from the Spring thus far may be the talent in LSU's tight end room as LSU may run a ton of 12 personnel in 2025. Trey'Dez Green continues to ascend and whether its as a tight end or spread out wide he'll be one of the biggest pieces of LSU's offense. Bauer Sharp has shown why he led Oklahoma in receiving last season and will have a massive impact as a run blocker.
