All of the latest news around the LSU Football team's efforts to build out the 2026 recruiting class while building the 2027 recruiting board offering top recruits. The past two weeks have been filled with news of LSU offering elite 2026 and 2027 recruits scholarships as recruiting truly ramps up with transfer activity dying down.
This week, LSU's Coaching Staff has gone on the road visiting recruits and after a visit, Edge Rushers Coach Kevin Peoples offered a scholarship to edge rusher Jamarion "Juice" Matthews.
After a great conversation with @coach_peoples I’m truly blessed to receive an offer from @LSUfootball ‼️ @SenatorsFB @CoachWatson14 @SBlackshear91 @Coach_Living @CoachJonesWR pic.twitter.com/TahjlUyTnJ

Jamarion Matthews is an elite recruit as On3 ranks him as the 111th ranked player in the class, the 12th ranked edge rusher, and the 6th ranked player out of Alabama. Given that Matthews is from Alabama it'll never be easy to pull Matthews out of State as Auburn has practically drawn a line around the State while Alabama did struggle in year one keeping players In-State.
The Tigers already have a strong start to a defensive line recruiting class holding commitments from Elite recruits Richard Anderson from Edna Karr and JaReylan McCoy from Mississippi.
Edge Rusher is an important position for LSU to load up on in the 2026 recruiting class. The Tigers just lost Bradyn Swinson, Sai'Vion Jones, and Da'Shawn Womack this offseason replacing the trio with Patrick Payton, Jimari Butler, and Jack Pyburn via the transfer portal. Given that all three are one year rentals, the Tigers will need to get younger at the position especially after signing just one edge rusher last cycle.
The Tigers will have a strong case with any edge rush recruit thanks to Kevin Peoples. Peoples has quickly established himself as one of the best at developing pass rushers with Bradyn Swinson becoming his latest success story. The next step for LSU is getting Matthews on campus for a visit this offseason.
