As the summer quickly approaches, the LSU Football team is looking to carry its momentum on the recruiting trail into official visits. The LSU Football program was able to elevate its recruiting class from 6th in the Country to the top ranked class in the Country by landing several elite blue-chip recruits.
This Summer will bring some of the Nation's top recruits to Baton Rouge where the Tigers will look to add several key players to its recruiting class. Heading into the summer, LSU fans are eyeing Quarterback, Offensive Line, Tight End, Defensive Line, and Defensive Back as the biggest positions of need in this recruiting class.
A recent official visit was set which should give the LSU Tigers a chance to address one of the biggest needs in this class.
Former Arizona State commit Israel Briggs sets official visit to LSU
After recently departing Arizona State's recruiting class, Israel Briggs has reopened his recruitment and has set an official visit to LSU along with visits set to Cal, Miami, and Texas A&M.
The LSU Football program joined this recruitment rather late which makes it a great sign to see the Tigers are getting an official visit. After losing Slade Nagle and hiring Alex Atkins the Tigers offered Israel Briggs near the end of February. Getting Briggs on campus this Summer will allow the Tigers to build a bond with Briggs which could give them a shot to win out in this recruitment.
According to On3's Industry Recruiting Rankings, Briggs is the 131st ranked player in the Country, the 8th ranked tight end, and the 16th ranked player out of California. All of the major recruiting services are high on Briggs as the lowest he's ranked is as the 10th ranked tight end.
The Tigers will need to once again load up at the tight end position as it'll be another offseason of reloading the room. The LSU Tigers used the transfer portal to bring in Bauer Sharp and Donovan Green both of which will be Seniors this season. The staff will likely look to bring in two tight ends in this class which will put LSU firmly in the race for Briggs.
