The LSU Football team didn't need to do much this offseason to shake up the coaching staff as the Tigers only needed to replace Slade Nagle who took Houston's Offensive Coordinator job. The Tigers hired Alex Atkins as Tight Ends Coach and Run Game Coordinator.
Where the Tigers have shaken up the staff is with some of Brian Kelly's key staffers as he's promoted a few to new roles after a solid recruiting and transfer cycle. The next two recruiting cycles are massive for LSU as the State is loaded with elite talent LSU needs to keep In-State.
This week, the Tigers promoted Director of Football Recruiting Jon Randall Belton to the Director of Football operations. Belton now will work closely with General Manager Austin Thomas overseeing the day to day operations of the Football program.
Jon Randall Belton's promotion leads to LSU promoting staffer Donovan Tate to the Tigers Director of Recruiting. After joining the staff as a recruiting specialist in 2023, Tate became the team's Assistant Director of Player Personnel last season and after another successful year by Tate, he received another promotion.
While Brian Kelly elevated some of his own, he also went out and poached a former staff member from Ohio State as he brings Morgan Phillips back to Baton Rouge. Phillips was hired away from LSU last season and now she returns to LSU after helping Ohio State reel in a top five recruiting class.
The move to bring Morgan Phillips back to LSU has already garnered high praise from one of LSU's top quarterback targets Trae Taylor.

As the Tigers have dove further into the NIL game to elevate their recruiting efforts, the staff needed to be arranged to best resemble an NFL Front Office. Revenue sharing is on the horizon in College Football and having a full staff equipped to handle it like an NFL Staff.
