The LSU Football team was having an incredible stretch on the recruiting trail as the Tigers were seemingly landing every recruit the Tigers pushed for. March and April saw LSU land commitments from Tristen Keys, Dylan Purter, Jabari Mack, and Havon Finney Jr helping skyrocket LSU's recruiting class up the rankings.
The past week however has been unkind to the Tigers as they've hit their first road bumps of the recruiting cycle. On Friday, LSU lost out in the recruitment of In-State cornerback Hayward Howard Jr to the Texas Longhorns. On Saturday, the LSU Tigers have suffered their first flip of the recruiting cycle and it comes as a bit of a surprise.
In-State WR commit Jakai Anderson flips commitment from LSU to SMU
On Saturday Morning, the LSU Football team received surprising news as In-State wide receiver Jakai Anderson announced he was flipping his commitment from LSU to SMU.
The news comes as a surprise, especially considering the school Anderson is flipping from, but, it also shouldn't be stunning. After landing Jakai Anderson's commitment last Summer LSU has since landed the Nation's Top WR Tristen Keys, Louisiana's Top WR Jabari Mack, and the most productive WR in Louisiana in Kenny Darby.
On3's Industry Recruiting rankings rank Jakai Anderson as the 342nd ranked player in the class, the 53rd ranked wide receiver, and the 10th ranked player out of Louisiana.
The Tigers have been in the final groups of schools for several elite wide receivers and the loss of Anderson now allows LSU to make a stronger push for some of the higher ranked players in the class. 4-star WR Boobie Feaster stands out as the biggest name to watch for LSU as the Tigers were projected to land him earlier this cycle but, added Tristen Keys and Jabari Mack after the projection.
The news is a setback in this recruiting class but, LSU's "WRU" status will make the Tigers an attractive landing spot for any WR recruit they push for.
