As LSU's Defense became one of the worst in the Country in part due to poor play in the secondary, Brian Kelly knew what he had to do, and he brought Corey Raymond back to Baton Rouge. Since Raymond's return LSU has reaped the rewards as the same cornerbacks developed while Raymond has been recruiting at an elite level.
The message in hiring Corey Raymond was clear, LSU needed to get back to the defensive standard the program played at for years.
In his first cycle back at LSU, Corey Raymond sent a statement signing the top cornerback in the Country nabbing DJ Pickett over a loaded group of suitors. Landing Pickett is just the start for Raymond at LSU as his resume speaks for itself and he'll continue nabbing elite recruits.
Corey Raymond will have his next chance to do so this Summer as elite Cornerback recruit Havon Finney has set his first official visit for the Summer as he'll visit LSU.

Havon Finney has made news as of late as the top cornerback in the 2027 recruiting class reclassified into the 2026 recruiting class. Reclassifying has become a bigger trend as of late as NIL has come into effect while it also gives a player a quicker path to the NFL.
After reclassifying, Rivals ranks Finney as the 20th best player in the 2026 class while On3 and 24/7 Sports have Finney tabbed as a four-star recruit. Given Finney's age, his final recruiting ranking will mostly depend on his Junior season.
The Tigers are in a great place with Havon Finney and Finney scheduling a visit to LSU only reiterates that point. The Tigers got Havon Finney on campus last season for the Alabama game and Corey Raymond made the trip out to California this winter.
The LSU Football team has ramped up its NIL efforts which should only give the Tigers a better chance at winning out but, in a sped up recruitment like this one relationships are a massive factor.
