College Basketball chaos begins on Monday March 24th as March Madness leads into the opening of College Basketball's transfer portal. Across the Country, thousands of college basketball stars will enter the transfer portal seeking a better program, more NIL money, more playing time, or a change in scenery.

This transfer cycle is crucial for the LSU Basketball team coming off of a 3-15 season in Conference play where the Tigers finished 15th in the SEC. LSU has committed to building a better basketball program via NIL after being one of the bottom spenders in the SEC.

While LSU will gain a ton of new talent, the Tigers will also see a few pieces enter the transfer portal following this season. This weekend, Tyrell Ward and Corey Chest declared their intentions to enter the transfer portal. The latest player to enter the transfer portal is guard Mike Williams who entered the transfer portal on Monday.

As a Freshman, Mike Williams III came in and instantly showed an ability to be a scorer off the bench scoring 7.2 points per game. Heading into his Sophomore season, appeared ready to take that next step for LSU but, that wasn't the case. Incoming transfers Jordan Sears and Dji Bailey along with Vyctorius Miller and Curtis Givens took most of the playing time which left Williams without a true role.

As the season progressed, Williams started to gain playing time again and for the most part he showed the promise he had as a Freshman. The injuries to Vyctorious Miller and other were Williams' path to playing time but, LSU will also look to find more high end players.

The transfer portal is fully open and for every player that leaves the program, we'll likely see a better transfer join the roster so there's no reason to overreact until the roster is set.
