While the result of Saturday's Game LSU in all likelihood killed any chance at receiving an at-large bid to the College Football Playoff as the committee dropped the Tigers down to 22nd in the College Football Playoff rankings. The phrase that's being said is that the Tigers are "eliminated from Playoff contention".
While that phrase may be true for the at large conversation as a whole, it is not true as the Tigers still have a great shot at making the Playoff.
The Tigers would so such by winning the SEC Championship Game which would give them a first round bye in the Playoff. Many will wonder how that's possible as Alabama and Texas A&M will most likely finish the SEC season with the same record in Conference Play and both have beaten LSU.
The Tigers will make the SEC Championship Game in the highly likely scenario where there is a six way tie between two loss teams in the SEC between LSU, Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.
The Tigers don't need any massive upsets for this to happen as they'll only need a win from Georgia against Tennessee and a win from Arkansas vs Missouri on November 30th. The Tigers would hold the tie-breaker due to strength of schedule as they avoided playing Auburn or Mississippi State who hold the worst records in the Conference.
The Tigers still have plenty to play for the rest of the way
While many will say that LSU's season is over, they surprisngly still have a chance at making the College Football Playoff. The best way to ensure that LSU keeps its hopes alive is by winning their remaining three games in Conference. If the Tigers can get to the SEC Championship they'll be a win away from saving their season and making the Playoff.
