LSU has extreme home field advantage in recruitment of top QB in 2027 class

The LSU Tigers need to capitalize on Elijah Haven's Baton Rouge roots.

The LSU Tigers are still eyeing their first recruit of the 2027 class. One prospect Brian Kelly and his staff are heavily focusing in on is five-star QB Elijah Haven. Per Rivals Industry, Haven is rated as the No. 1 quarterback in the country for the 2027 class. Kelly and the Tigers have an extreme home field advantage when it comes to Haven's recruitment, as he hails from The Dunham School in Baton Rouge.

As Haven begins his junior season of high school football, the highly-coveted recruit has announced that he will visit six schools this fall. Tiger fans are excited to see LSU on the list.

5-star QB Elijah Haven heading to LSU for fall visit

Haven is slated to be at Tiger Stadium for the SEC opener against Florida next week on Saturday, Sept. 13. In addition to visiting LSU, Haven is also set to visit Georgia, Penn State, Alabama, Florida, and Auburn. Given his strong ties to Baton Rouge, Kelly and his staff figure to keep their foot on the gas during Haven's recruitment.

The 6-foot-5, 215-pound gunslinger is described by 247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins of being a "supersized quarterback with first-round pick potential." Ivins notes that Haven possesses a an elite combination of strength and athleticism who is a strong pocket passer but can also make plays with his legs.

Havens earned National Sophomore Player of the Year honors by MaxPreps after accounting for 56 total touchdowns as a sophomore last season. He led Dunham to a 14-1 record and an appearance in Louisiana's Division III Select state championship game. In total, Haven threw for 3,093 yards and 37 touchdowns with seven interceptions while holding a completion percentage of 60.7 during his sophomore season. He was also effective on the ground, running for 925 yards and 19 touchdowns.
