As LSU started its Spring Practices this weekend it marked a return to hosting recruits on campus as the recruiting dead period drew to an end. This weekend was a solid start to the new period in the recruiting cycle as LSU got a great group of recruits on campus but, bigger recruiting weekends lie ahead. Coming out of these weekends while commitments are great the main goal is building momentum into the summer by getting a recruit to come back for an official visit.
Among the recruits on campus this weekend was four star defensive back Dylan Purter who leaves Baton Rouge with a date set up this Summer for an official visit on June 13th.
“Coach Olsen is a fantastic guy. He just keeps it real with me at all times. So I really respect that.”

The news for LSU is massive as Dylan Purter plans to return to Baton Rouge which puts LSU firmly in the race for his commitment.
According to On3, Dylan Purter is the 171st ranked recruit in the class, the 19th ranked cornerback, and the 9th ranked player out of Alabama. Given that Dylan Purter raved about Jake Olsen in his quote it appears the Tigers are recruiting Purter as a safety. This is already an important cycle for LSU at safety as the Tigers hold a commitment from In-State star Aiden Hall while In-State recruit Blaine Bradford remains the top safety in the class.
On3’s director of scouting and rankings Charles Power had the following report on Purter:
"Dylan Purter is a fast rising prospect and looks like one of the more athletic DB’s in the South early on in 2026. Physical and has positional versatility playing a bunch of safety at the high school level."Charles Power
LSU still has plenty of work to do as several of the top SEC schools are pushing for Dylan Purter but, getting him on campus this summer is a massive step.
