A name that has popped up on the injury report the past few weeks has been veteran linebacker West Weeks. The older brother of Whit has been dealing with an injury that has left him sidelined which raised red flags after LSU lost Harold Perkins Jr for the season with an ACL injury.

After dealing with an injury and being stuck behind Greg Penn III and Whit Weeks, West Weeks has decided to use his redshirt year so he can return to LSU in 2025 according to LSU Odyssey.

Weeks has played three games recording six total tackles two of which were solo tackles and 0.5 tackles for a loss. As Weeks has only played three games, he can still appear in one more game this season so LSU can deploy him in case of an emergency.

This move will likely lead to us seeing a Weeks' linebacking Corps next season for LSU. The Tigers will lose Senior Greg Penn III while Harold Perkins Jr will likely test his chances in the NFL Draft.

In many ways this is a smart move especially as LSU can keep him ready incase we see a scenario where LSU may need to use that last game he can play. This does create some situations which will be scary like when LSU lost Greg Penn III this weekend for a play or if either linebacker gets a targeting penalty.

When Penn III went out and in some passing situations we saw true freshman Xavier Atkins step into the game and he'll be the name to watch going forward. The Tigers have shifted their defensive scheme after losing Harold Perkins going away from a ton of their three-man linebacking sets and going with Whit Weeks and Penn.
