LSU loses Five Star cornerback the day before signing day
It has been an absolutely brutal lead up to National Signing Day for the LSU Football program. The Tigers entered November with the Nation’s third ranked class trailing only Ohio State and Alabama.
Then LSU lost four-star in-state guard Devin Harlee to Ole Miss followed by losing five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood to Michigan and four star edge rusher Jesse Harrold decommitted.
The terrible finish to the recruiting cycle continues for LSU as the Tigers have lost five star cornerback Kade Phillips to Texas.
The Tigers flipped Kade Phillips from Texas this summer but, the Longhorns never relented in their pursuit.
According to On3 Phillips is the 23rd ranked player in the class and the 4th ranked cornerback so this is a significant loss. LSU still holds commitments from Five-star cornerback DJ Pickett and four star Aidan Anding but, they’ll need to hold onto both.
The Tigers are struggling to compete in recruiting with schools that are willing to pay far more in NIL which means the Tigers either need to ramp up their efforts or they’ll need to pursue more transfers.
Defensive back was one of the positions LSU needed the new talent the most after years of underwhelming play in the secondary.
If LSU still wants to finish with a top class there are two five stars that LSU will have a great chance at in offensive lineman Solomon Thomas and defensive lineman Jahkeem Stewart but, they’ll need to compete on the NIL front.
