LSU loses four-star edge rush commit less than a week from Signing Day
This final stretch leading up to the Early Signing Period in College Football has been absolutely chaotic for the LSU Football team. The Tigers lost Devin Harper to Ole Miss, Bryce Underwood to Michigan, and are likely losing Derek Meadows to Michigan, Notre Dame, or Alabama. These final few weeks have been filled with LSU battling to keep its recruiting class intact as other schools try to chip away.
The Tigers lost out on one elite recruit as four-star edge rusher Jesse Harrold has decommitted from the LSU Football program.
Harrold committed to LSU back in June and stayed on board until six days before the Early Signing Period. Given that Harrold is from Tampa, the Florida schools will be the teams to watch as there isn't a clear front runner.
The loss of Harrold deals a big blow to the Tigers recruiting class as they lose the 144th ranked player in the Country, the 19th ranked edge rusher, and the 23rd ranked player from Florida according to On3.
As LSU will lose edge rushers Bradyn Swinson and Sai'Vion Jones to the NFL Draft the Tigers had a need at edge rusher. Four-Star recruit Damien Shanklin is the Tigers lone remaining edge rush commitment so the Tigers will either need to push for a commit this late in the cycle or they'll turn their focus to the transfer portal.
This final week will be filled with a ton of recruiting drama as LSU tries to close out what's currently the 6th ranked recruiting class in the Country. LSU has done a great job building this class up but, nothing will matter if it all falls apart in the final days of the recruiting cycle.
