The start of the LSU vs Florida game is not going well for LSU. Not only did the Tigers go three-and-out on their first offensive drive of the game, but star linebacker Whit Weeks was ejected for targeting less than four minutes into the game.
Weeks lowered his helmet to the facemask of Florida WR Vernell Brown III. The play was reviewed for several minutes before it was announced that Weeks had been ejected for targeting.

Whit Weeks ejected for targeting against Florida
It was a weird play, as Weeks made contact with Brown's helmet from the side. It appeared as if Weeks was in the process of lowering his shoulder when the contact was made. But nonetheless, the officiating crew determined that it warranted a targeting call.
As a part of the NCAA's new rules, Weeks no longer has to leave the sideline and go to the locker room after being ejected for targeting. Instead, he can stay on the sideline with the rest of the team.
The LSU defense has to regroup quickly. Weeks is the heart and soul of the Tiger defense, and his strong play and leadership has led to a much-improved LSU defense so far this season. He can still be a leader from the bench, but not having him out there is a tough blow for LSU early on.
Weeks is one of the top linebackers in all of college football. He earned First-Team All-SEC last season, finishing second in the SEC with 125 tackles.
