The LSU Football program has been picking up a ton of momentum on the recruiting trail as the Tigers continue to get good news during the recruiting dead period. The story of the week last week was landing Top-50 recruit and In-State star Brysten Martinez moving LSU's class up to the 3rd ranked class in the Country and the top in the SEC.
The question always becomes who's next to jump on board in the class after reeling in a commitment. As of late LSU has gotten great news making the final schools in consideration for top recruits like Boobie Feaster, Jamarion Carlton, Immanuel Iheanacho, and several other recruits considering LSU in their short lists.
The latest recruit to name LSU one of his finalists is offensive lineman Canon Pickett, a name that is familiar to LSU fans as the younger cousin of LSU signee DJ Pickett.

Canon Pickett is ranked by On3 as the 229th ranked player in the class, the 18th ranked interior offensive lineman, and the 30th ranked player out of Florida. The Tigers just signed an offensive line heavy class with a ton of interior offensive linemen but, the Tigers will be looking to reload once again as LSU could lose Braelin Moore and Josh Thompson after this season.
One of the more under the radar storylines developing in LSU's 2026 Recruiting Cycle is the family ties many of the recruits have with LSU's roster. Canon Pickett is the Cousin of LSU Five Star signee DJ Pickett. LSU also cracked the finalist group for Ben Mubenga an elite recruit and the brother of LSU offensive lineman Paul Mubenga. The Top Safety in the Class Blaine Bradford is the brother of LSU signee Jacob Bradford. One of the top players in Louisiana Darryus McKinley could sign with LSU to play on the defensive line next to his brother Dominick.
If LSU is going to win out in this recruitment, it'll be because of the ties Alex Atkins has in Florida and because of DJ Pickett. Miami will be the school to beat given that Pickett is a Hurricane's legacy but, we also saw LSU overcome that hurdle to land DJ Pickett.
