The Spring Transfer Portal is closed for new entries but, the top teams around the Country are still battling it out for some of the top players in the Country. The biggest storyline this week for the LSU Football program is the recruitment of Houston safety AJ Haulcy. The Miami Hurricanes rolled out the red carpet for AJ Haulcy giving him a police escort and a dinner with Rick Ross which looked like it close the deal.

Instead, the LSU Football team has stuck around in the recruitment of AJ Haulcy and now the recruitment may be swinging the Tigers direction. On Thursday Night, Miami landed Tennessee safety Jakobe Thomas, which helps LSU as Miami could be pivoting to a different safety in this class. As LSU's push continues, the Tigers got their biggest news to date in this recruitment as AJ Haulcy will make the trip to Baton Rouge this weekend.

The news also comes with a bit of a surprise as Haulcy's agents released his "Top Three" schools, including SMU. The Mustangs weren't one of the early schools involved with Haulcy, which could drag this process on if Haulcy decides to stop in to In-State SMU for a visit.

The LSU Football team getting AJ Haulcy on campus is a massive development in this recruitment especially as Miami looked like it locked Haulcy up during his visit. When Haulcy gets to campus the Tigers coaching staff and front office will need to close out this recruitment but, they've shown this year in the transfer portal that they have what it takes to do so,

Landing AJ Haulcy would give LSU the playmaking safety the Tigers have lacked in the Brian Kelly era. On3 ranks Haulcy as the 13th best player to enter the transfer portal since it first opened in the Winter and the 2nd ranked safety to do so making him the top transfer LSU will have landed. Brian Kelly and his staff have done an incredible job in the transfer portal this year but, they'll need to close out one more recruitment to give LSU its final piece on defense.
