The LSU Football program currently holds the Nation's top recruiting class after the month of March saw the Tigers land several highly touted recruits. LSU's top ranked class has a foundation of home grown talent as LSU holds commitments from In-State four-star recruits Richard Anderson, Aiden Hall, Jabari Mack, Brysten Martinez, Kenny Darby, Jakai Anderson, and Jalan Champman.
While LSU has been all over the top talent in the state, one recruit that seemed like an ideal target for LSU remained without an offer which seemed questionable to LSU fans. On Tuesday, the LSU Football team hosted In-State cornerback Hayward Howard Jr on an unofficial visit and for the Edna Karr star, the offer from LSU finally came.
LSU offers Hayward Howard Jr and quickly get an official visit lined up
As Hayward Howard Jr made his way to campus, and the Tigers coaching staff finally jumped into the race extending an offer.
On3's Industry Recruiting Rankings rank Hayward Howard Jr as the 369th ranked player in the class, the 32nd ranked cornerback, and the 11th ranked player out of Louisiana. LSU took a while to extend the offer but, after an impressive season helping Edna Karr win the State Title, the Tigers had to jump in the race.
While LSU is the In-State school, there will be a few other factors working in LSU's favor in this recruitment. LSU already has three Edna Karr alums on the roster in wide receivers Destyn Hill, Aaron Anderson, and TaRon Francis who was teammates with Howard. Hayward Howard Jr's other teammates on defense Richard Anderson was LSU's first commitment in this class while his teammate in the Secondary Aiden Hall has reaffirmed his commitment to LSU as often as he can.
The Tigers will now get Hayward Howard Jr on campus for an official visit from June 20th-22nd which is a massive weekend for LSU as top targets Lamar Brown, Bowe Bentley, Havon Finney Jr, Boobie Feaster, and JaReylan McCoy will all be on campus.
The LSU Tigers may have jumped into this race late but, the history with Edna Karr and being the In-state school will make LSU one of the teams to beat with plenty of time to make a move before early signing day.
